Subspace, the pioneering MMO of the 90s
Submitted by TAR Tom on Thu, 16/08/2007 - 10:30am. Action | mmog | subspace | vieIt's unlikely you've ever heard of this game, and that's a massive loss for you. Subspace was a top-down space combat game published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment in the late 90s. Gameplay was pretty similar to Star Control II HyperMelee in this regard, but Subspace was groundbreaking as it really introduced the concept of an MMO - Massively Multiplayer Online game - into the mainstream. Think of it like multi-player Asteroids on speed.

Bad news for Aegia - UT 2007 slips
ActionMidway has just announced that they're not going to get Unreal Tournament 2007 out of the door before Christmas. They're looking at a release in "first quarter 2007" - which will probably be March.
This is bad news in and of itself - everyone and their dogs have been waiting for this game - but it's especially bad news for Aegia. Their PhysX physics card is lacking any decent games - and there were none on the horizon apart from UT 2007.
With the card costing as much as a high end GPU, and both ATI and Nvidia announcing that they're going to do their own physics engines, this pretty much looks like the death knell for Aegia.
