Retro, and older games, personally I think are far far better than the general games that come out now. For instance look at the graphics, they are not very shiny, have nasty pixelated textures, and sometimes pretty undetailed maps - but who cares when the gameplay is just so damn good =]
A lot of games todays eemingly concentrate so hard on getting the most shiny rocks/tress/grass (and other non important items) that there is and forget about whats important... the gameplay, which is why I'm so often playing old crappy looking games - because they just are so much more of a laugh. Take Duke Nukem for example, its not the prettiest game, and it wasnt too shiny at the time - although it was advanced in some respects at the time, but the game is still such a laugh even today because they made it an enjoyable and funny game and not a game that you were meant to go "oooh" and "ah" at the amazing water or detailed textures. This is why I prefer playing older, crap looking games, because they have such amazing gameplay.
Now, more importantly, can you guess/name all these retro games correctly??
