From the latest Dev blog here comes the news that Invention in EVE is going to undergo some changes.

About time too, quite frankly. If you can assemble the components and get the skills for the invention process, why on earth are the results random? Once these changes are made, you'll be able to focus your invention on a specific outcome.

Sorry, I missed this one earlier, but it looks like Tranquility will be down for an extended period today - CCP estimate at least 3 hours.

Patch Notes don't seem to show anything major, this 2.21 update just seems like some relatively minor fixes.

Given the instability yesterday and this morning of the Tranquility cluster I suspect there's some major behind the scenes database and debug work going on.

Gamespot managed to catch up with CCP's CEO Hilmar Petursson at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, where he was giving a talk on EVE and showing off some nice videos.

If you're not an EVE player you may not be aware that CCP have hired an economist from an Icelandic University - not only will he be giving input on the economy, but he'll also be publishing quarterly reports on the state of the game economy. It's a pretty powerful and complex environment, and it's good to see CCP taking it so seriously.

On Tuesday 24th July there'll be extended downtime for the next patch deployment. Revelations 2.1 will address a number of issues that cropped up since the initial Revelations deployement.

Patch notes aren't currently available, but there's a forum thread at http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=559655 which discusses the fixes.

The Revelation 2.01 patch has been successfully deployed. It's a short quick update to the EVE client, and contains a fair few minor bug fixes.
