While delayed launch dates are never good news, it's nice to see the Tabula Rasa developers admitting to pushing back the release date to fix bugs found in the beta.

The posting from Starr Long on the Tabula Rasa Community News site explains:

"Many of you have heard my mantra for game development: "Stable, Fast, Fun. In that order." We need a little more time to make that happen.

Just catching up with Fred's MMOExplorer blog, and was reading with interest his post about 2 free MMORPGs that have slipped under the radar.

Sword of the New World is free to download and play up till level 20, which is enough to give you a good feel for the game. It's based in a sort of Spanish colony in the Americas, and you have to battle various monsters as well as corruption within your own ranks.

I'm a big Guild Wars fan. The story is good and the graphics are great, but beyond that, the actual game design is excellent.

Unlike most online games, Guild Wars has no monthly fee. You buy the game, enter the key code during setup, and away you go. Gamespot managed to grab ArenaNet's co-founder Jeff Strain at the recent Develop conference in Brighton.

Before helping to start ArenaNet, Jeff was a team lead at Blizzard, working on World of Warcraft, as well as a programmer working on the Starcraft and Diablo team. He knows his stuff ;-)
