Defcon tournament - £20k of prizes available!
Submitted by TAR Tom on Thu, 31/05/2007 - 1:29pm. Events | StrategyEach Saturday IGUK are running a Defcon FFA. The usual format applies - you win a certain number of FFA tickets depending on how well you do in the match.
However, this one's a little bit different - there are over £20k worth of prizes up for grabs! From top of the line gaming gear to a monster plasma TV - there are enough prizes that anyone, no matter how bad you think you are, is in with a chance to win something.
Come in and talk to our staff about taking part, and then show up at the centre on Saturday, making sure you've left plenty of time for registration. Why not pop in today and start getting some practise in?
You can check out the full prize list, rules, and other details at http://www.iguk.org/?a=ffa50saturday

Internet technologies: training courses
EventsNow the summer holidays are here, people have a lot more free time. There's only so much gaming you can do (unless you're playing EVE :-), so I'm thinking about running a series of courses, covering Internet technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, etc. We'll be covering concepts as well as practical demonstrations. There would be CDs and course notes given out, as well as a 'further reading' list, with maybe some discounted books on offer.
The format I'm thinking of is a 2 hour closed session. Sign-ups and payment would be taken in advance, and there would be four 2 hour sessions over a month (ie. one 2 hour session per week). So you'd sign up for a month at a time.
