IRC Tutorial

This is a short and quick guide to setting up various IRC clients so that you can all join the rest of us in theaubergineroom IRC channel.
For those of you who don't know IRC, it means Internet Relay Chat and its on a similar vein of thought to Instant Messenger networks such as AIM and MSN Messenger.
Theres a variety of IRC clients available for use on Windows and MAC systems, but heres a quick guide to using what I consider the best choices.

First up, Visual IRC 2, or VIRC 2 for use on Windows.
You can download the program for use from home here: VIRC 2
After installing the program on your computer, run it, and then you should be confronted by a window somwhat resembling this:

In here you can set your name in the 'Default nicks:' Box by clicking 'Add'
For basic set up nothing else needs to be change right now, so click 'OK'.

Click 'File' at the top of the screen and select 'New Connection'.

Next up you need to select a server to connect to. Click on the button next to the 'Default Server' box, the button with the 3 dots.

In the list of servers on the left side of the new window that opens up, select Quakenet, and then any server in the list. Before you connect you will have to edit the 'Server Name' and remove the '.eu' for example:
b0rk.uk.quakenet.eu.org
should be:
b0rk.uk.quakenet.org
As shown in the screenshot above. Then click OK, then OK again.

Next click the 'Start' button at the top left of the window, and then type:
/join #theaubergiineroom
This will connect you to theaubergineroom channel. If you need any help you can ask on the Forums, on the channel or in the centre.
