The billionaires toyshop

The Register have a great article up about the sort of toys billionaires could (and should, dammit!) be buying.

Covering the usual dull stuff light yachts and planes, they then move on to the really cool stuff - submarines and space craft.

Paul Allen (who along with one Bill Gates founded Microsoft) features prominently on the toy list. Sadly it doesn't look like any has bought any really good submarines. I can remember after the Soviet Union fell apart, there were some ex-Soviet Navy subs up for grabs that had been impounded in the port at Riga.

The work on inflatable orbital habitats sounds pretty promising, though - I wonder if we could see 'space casinos' in the next 20 years or so?
